$1.6 MILLION, FIVE HOUSE PROJECT WRAPS IN 2023

Grants from DOLA Division of Housing and HUD

KCRD received a $500k HUD Grant, a $225,000 DOLA Division of Housing Grant, and a $306,908 DOLA IHOI Grant to bring in 5 Fading West Development Affordable Homes. These homes were complete in May 2023. Work was complete on garages, driveways, landscaping, sidewalks and fences in Summer 2023.

5 New Affordable Houses Come to Kit Carson!

Four houses comprise 1,216 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The fifth home is 1,600 square feet with 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms (and is ADA compliant on the first floor).

Purchased site/old house for $20,000


Abated asbestos and demolished old home for $39,518


Purchased two Fading West Development, 2-story Modular homes that arrived in January 2023 and were placed on foundations. Renters moved in in June 2023.

Purchased large residential site for $25,000 (mobile home was removed by owner).


Cleared site for $3,100.


Purchased three Fading West Development, 2-story modular homes that arrived in January 2023 and were placed on foundations.  Renters took occupancy in June 2023.

2010 HUD HOPE VI MAIN STREET GRANT - FIVE AFFORDABLE HOMES

$1 million HUD Grant

KCRD received a $1 million grant and raised $400k in matching funds to build 5 brand new houses. We purchased five abandoned houses/house sites that were in severe disrepair.  KCRD then conducted environmental assessments, abated asbestos, and cleared and demolished the old houses. We then built five brand new single family affordable homes that were immediately rented out.
