BuSINESS INCUBATORS AND SHARED WORKSPACE PROJECTS

KCRD purchased the vacant old gallery in 2017. We remodeled the interior and created space for three separate businesses, who enjoyed success over the years. A mural was painted on the facade by Some Girls and a Mural in 2023.  KCRD sold the building on 12/31/24. Today this building is the home of the Kit Carson Mercantile, a locally owned grocery store.

In August of 2021 KCRD received a Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) grant and with matching money hired VAP Construction to build a 4,224 square foot business hub that contains two commercial spaces and a shared workspace. The shared workspace opened in August of 2022.
