KCRD MAIN FOCUS AREAS

Over the last 15 years KCRD has brought in 17 affordable houses to Kit Carson, all homes were rented or sold upon completion.

KCRD has abated asbestos at 6 homes and one large commercial site.  All structures were then demolished and the sites cleared, paving the way to bring in brand new homes and a 4,224 square foot commercial building.  

KCRD remodeled a vacant building on Main St. and Hwy 287, creating three commercial spaces available for rent.  In August of 2022 KCRD completed a 4,224 square foot building that now houses Katie's Korner Grocery store and a shared workspace. 

Community improvements include: organizing and working at tree clean up days, landscaping at the clinic, lamp posts on Main Street, and the new and improved Prairie Park.
